Cling
speaks about decay and the significance of context that influences our perception and judgement of our environment.
I made Cling for the group show at Larac in Glens Falls, NY, during my Artist Residency at Salem Artworks. Burdock was rampant in this area and soon started to fascinate me. The functionality/versatility of its blossoms, which had originally inspired the invention of velcro, prompted me to undertake a couple of studies.
The final result of which was a carpet that offered a surprisingly tactile experience: bundled up, the blossoms sting as much as they feel soft. This contradiction provokes an almost obsessive need to touch.
